Saturday-Bucharest-discover the city
After a rich breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel and start to explore this fascinating city. First stop at Village Museum, lying in a specific Romanian setting, on Herãstrãu lake shore. It is one of the biggest and the oldest outdoors museum in Europe. Its exibits – genuinemonuments including houses, pens, churches, water and wind mills, cloth mills, of great historic and artistic value – acquaint the visitors with the specific of the Romanian village. Then we continue with the Arch of Triumph, a monument celebrating the creation of Greater Romania – drive along Calea Victoriei, Bucharest’s emblematic artery – stop in the Palace Square, a site full of history, surrounded by highly evocative edifices and monuments – visit of the iconic Athenaeum – Revolution Square, where the communist leader Ceausescu held his last public speech. Visit the Parliament Palace. A “giant” built during the “golden age” of the dictatorial regime and born in the mind of a man for whom the notion of “reasonable size” did not exist. The Guinness Book of World Records lists the building in second place according to its 330,000-sq.m surface that is after the Pentagon building.Free time to walk through the streets of the Old Town, have a drink or listen to some live music.
